As society began to reclaim the abandoned cities of their forefathers the new inhabitants started to rediscover long forgotten items and technology left behind by Those of Old. Since most of the records and history before the time of the Black Vein Plague are scattered and lost to the four winds. The items left behind by Those of Old are highly sought after, these types of discovered treasures would be considered rare technologies of a better time. These rarer technological items are reserved for those of higher class standing and royalty, and a few organizations are tasked with the recovery of these items and are the only ones legally allowed to handle, sell, or trade ancient tech. Such organizations are almost always funded by a some aristocrat hoping to better his station in life. The artifacts that have been discovered have lead to a technological boom. Each new item propelling science into the future. The majority of tech in the world can be found within the walls of the ancient city Mercadia, much to the dislike of neighboring nations, but ideas are spreading to every corner of the world.

Black plumes of smoke bellow from factories, firearms have taken the place of swords as the weapon of choice for the fighter and wizards struggle to find their place in a world that has left magic behind and is favoring science instead. Motorized carts transport people around the city while large floating airships take to the skies.
